HOUR BY HOUR: Stormy conditions ease, but flooding still possible
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The heaviest rain from the system has finally moved off to the east of Hawaii island, but there are still pockets of heavy rain. At this point, the ground is so saturated statewide that any rain will cause new flooding or exacerbate floods in areas that are still underwater.
The highest risk for rain will be in leeward areas of the islands of Maui and Hawaii.
The Flood Watch remains in effect for Maui County and Hawaii Island into Sunday night.
The wind advisory for lower elevations as been canceled as the strong kona winds have diminished. However, a High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 a.m Monday for the summit areas of Haleakala, Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea.

Hour-by-hour timeline
Here is the latest breakdown of the data from our First Alert Weather team. We will be monitoring this storm throughout the week so check back for updates.
Sunday, March 15
The flooding threat continues to decrease for Kauai and Oahu throughout Sunday. However, the ground will be so saturated that any additional rainfall could lead to quick runoff and flash flooding. Any individual pop-up storms may lead to more runoff.
Flash flooding and breezy southwest winds are still expected for Maui County and Hawaii Island. The winds bringing moisture against the slopes of Mauna Loa and Hualalai could result in another round of heavy showers for West and South Hawaii from at least North Kona through South Kona and then around to Ka’u, areas that have already seen significant flooding overnight.
