HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Daniel K. Inouye International airport is launching its Enhanced Passenger Processing program on Tuesday.

The program will photograph passengers using auto capture technology that uses facial recognition to confirm passenger identity.

The technology will be used on passengers arriving in Honolulu from international flights.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation says the program will help streamline the arrival process by reducing the need for administrative tasks.

Nationwide, 14 other airports use this technology including airports in Chicago, Orlando, Denver, and Seattle-Tacoma.
