HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The suspect involved in an armed standoff with police in Kailua has been charged.

Sean Warnet, 43, was charged Friday with attempted first-degree murder against a law enforcement officer, use of a firearm in the commission of a separate felony and two counts of prohibited weapon.

Police responded to a call about a domestic dispute on Akiikii Place in the Keolu area shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday.

A 42-year-old woman reportedly told officers that Warnet physically abused her, police said.

According to HPD, Warnet came out of the home armed with a gun and fired multiple rounds toward the officers who were trying to arrest him.

He then went back inside the home, creating an armed standoff barricade situation, police said.

Warnet surrendered at around 11 p.m.

He is currently being held without bail.
