Parker Ranch announces plans for revitalized Jacaranda Inn

WAIMEA, HAWAI’I ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The former Jacaranda Inn property in Waimea is set to be reimagined as a boutique paniolo experience.
Parker Ranch is entering a partnership developer Stanford Carr, and other Hawaii-based investors, to revitalize the former Jacaranda Inn with Hawaii hotelier Jerry Gibson.
The partnership, which was announced Thursday, brings together local real estate, hospitality, and property stewardship parties to work together to plan the property’s future.
Since the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust reacquired the lease in 2021, it has explored opportunities to revitalize the property while also honoring its history.
“Parker Ranch has been part of Waimea for nearly 180 years, and we recognize the kuleana that comes with that history,” said Micah Kane, President and CEO of Parker Ranch, Inc. “This is an opportunity to tell our story and create ambassadors for our legacy.”
Parker Ranch was founded in 1847 by the great-granddaughter of Kamehameha I.
The partners announced plans for their vision of a boutique hospitality experience that honors the property’s heritage.
“This partnership allows us to remain connected to a place that means so much to our community while bringing together the expertise and resources to shape its future,” Kane said.
The agreement includes a shared commitment to the protection and preservation of Manaua, a sacred rain rock on the property.
Parker Ranch says the project will create opportunities that benefit the community.
The project is still in its early planning stages, with no work expected for at least a year.
The partners say they will keep the community updated as plans solidify.
