Police arrest, charge 2 men accused of Hawaii Island stabbing

KAILUA-KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Island police arrested and charged two men in connection with a stabbing in Holualoa on Saturday.

Brandon Damian Urzua, 25, and Brayan Damian Urzua, 27, both of Kailua-Kona, were charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and other related offenses.

Shortly before 11 p.m., on Saturday, Kona patrol officers responded to reports of a weapons incident at the Kona Imin Center in Holualoa.

Police say a fight involving multiple people broke out after a graduation party, leaving two men stabbed.

Brandon Urzua was identified as the suspect who allegedly stabbed the men, and Brayan Urzua was identified as an alleged accomplice.

Both were arrested, as well as two other men who were reportedly involved in the fight.

According to police, a 41-year-old Kailua-Kona man was stabbed in the left thigh and was treated by medics at the scene.

The second victim, a 39-year-old Holualoa Man, was reportedly stabbed in the left hip, which penetrated his pelvic region and caused internal damage and significant blood loss.

He was transported to the Kona Community Hospital in critical condition and was later flown to Queens Medical Center on Oahu for further treatment.

On Monday, Brandon Urzua was charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and two counts of Assault in the Second Degree. His bail was set at $1.2 million.

Brayan Urzua was charged as an accomplice for the same crimes. His bail was set at $1.15 million.

The other two men accused of being involved in the fight were released, pending further investigation.
