Man charged after allegedly assaulting woman, 9-year-old son

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The suspect who allegedly assaulted and injured a woman and her 9-year-old son has been charged.

Kaleo Martin, 44, was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, two counts of kidnapping, and two counts of abuse of a household member.

Police responded to a domestic-related incident on Lusitana Street at about 8 p.m.

The 39-year-old woman and her son were involved in an argument with a man who is known to the victim, said police.

The incident allegedly escalated to a violent attack, resulting in the victim’s injuries, said police.

Police were flagged down and arrested the 44-year-old man.

Emergency Medical Services treated the woman for stab wounds and both victims for other injuries. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect’s bail was set at $500,000 and is due in court on April 15.
