HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Customs officers in New Zealand seized approximately 101 kilograms, or nearly 223 pounds, of cocaine from a Hawaiian Airlines flight over the weekend.

Officials said the Feb. 15 seizure at Auckland International Airport is believed to be the largest seizure at a New Zealand airport to date.

During routine border enforcement activities, customs officers identified a number of bags arriving on the flight, according to the New Zealand Customs Service.

On examination, officials located 85 bricks of a substance that had been wrapped in black film and clear plastic wrapping. Initial testing indicated positive for cocaine, officials said.

Officials said the drugs have a street value of roughly $35 million New Zealand dollars, or around $20 million U.S. dollars.

It’s not clear if any arrests have been made.

An investigation is underway.
