USA swimmer Kate Douglass wins gold in women’s 200m breaststroke

PARIS (Gray News) - United States swimmer Kate Douglass took home the gold medal in the women’s 200m breaststroke Thursday.

Douglass finished with a time of 2:19.24, setting an American record.

Tatjana Smith of South Africa took silver and Tes Schouten of the Netherlands won bronze.

Douglass’ gold medal is her second medal at the Paris Olympics. She previously won a silver medal on Saturday in the women’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay.

Douglass is a 22-year-old from New York state. She made her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020, where she won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley.
