Forecast: Kona winds to blow Monday ahead of cold front

Kona winds from the south to southwest will start blowing over the islands Monday ahead of an approaching cold front. The weather should remain dry until the front brings a few light showers Monday night and Tuesday. Winds will remain light Wednesday and Thursday as a ridge of high pressure settles over the islands. Trade wind weather will start slowly returning Friday into next weekend.

Out in the ocean, the calendar may say it's spring, but a late season swell could bring warning-level surf to north and west shores starting Tuesday, peaking Tuesday night and Wednesday. There are also some small south swells expected over the coming week.
