We lost the trade winds... and we saw quite a bit of convective showers today due to an upper level disturbance that is moving over the Big Island and a trough swinging over us. This caused HAIL over Mauna Kea and flash flooding over Kohala slopes and parts of the state saw brief heavy downpour. We have a 50% chance for pop up showers on Sunday. Trades don't return until late week.
HIGH SURF ADVISORY for all south shores. National Weather Service says 6-10 feet for Oahu on Sunday, may be extended until Monday. Be safe! Check with lifeguards before you or the kids get in the water. If you are visiting, check out this Ocean Safety web site for some important safety tips: http://oceansafety.ancl.hawaii.edu/safety/
