Forecast: Waves up to 24 feet expected along North shores

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The breezy tradewinds will persist through the weekend with great air quality and comfortable humidity levels. Another approaching front early next week will bring a wind shift which might bring in a few showers along with vog and haze.

HIGH SURF ADVISORY has been posted for most north facing shores. A large north swell is now picking up with dangerous waves. South shores should get a small boost on Friday.

Surf along north facing shores will be rising to 18 to 24 feet Friday.

Surf along west facing shores will be rising to 5 to 8 feet Friday.

Surf along east facing shores will be rising to 4 to 7 feet Friday. Beaches exposed to a north swell will have significantly higher waves.

Surf along south facing shores will be rising to 3 to 5 feet Friday.

Wind Advisory until 6:00pm this evening for Lanai, Kahoolawe... and on the Big Island in Leeward Kohala and neighborhoods southeast of summits.

Small Craft Advisory for all coastal and channel waters.
