OHA Trustee Rowena Akana Supports Sovereignty

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - During the summer, The Department of the Interior held statewide hearings regarding a government-to-government relationship with the Native Hawaiian community. Today, Sunrise brings in a Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to speak about the progress being made in this effort and the history of Hawaii-U.S. relations.
OHA Trustee Rowena Akana believes it is a difficult task to find a solution which will satisfy all Native Hawaiians. Akana would like to clarify OHA is not a racist group looking to secede from all U.S. ties, they are a political group looking to amend currently strained relations with America.
