HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has extended a High Surf Advisory for south facing shores until 6 a.m. Thursday as waves will stay close to the eight-foot advisory threshold.
Forecasters said waves would be in the 6-10 foot face range through Wednesday morning, lowering to 5-8 feet by evening. Only experienced surfers, please. Swimmers should watch out for dangerous rip currents and beach erosion.
The waves were created by a powerful storm that tracked to the southeast of New Zealand last week.
West shores with southern exposure will also see larger than normal surf, perhaps 5-8 feet.
