Investigation launched into Ocean View fatal vehicle fire

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Island police are investigating a fatal vehicle fire that occurred on Sunday in Ocean View Estates.

According to police, officers and fire personnel were dispatched to a vehicle fire King Kamehameha Boulevard at around 3:26 p.m.

Police said responding personnel discovered a sedan engulfed in flames, and after extinguishing the fire, human remains were discovered in the passenger area of the vehicle.

The victim’s identity and the cause of the fire are still under investigation, police said. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
