Officials on Thursday night will be discussing how to proceed with the off-limits Haiku stairs.
The trail, also known as Stairway to Heaven, has been closed since 1987, but that hasn’t stopped people from trespassing over private property to make the climb.
Re-opening the area has been discussed over the years, and many have asked to make the trail legal again under managed access.
The landowner, the Board of Water Supply, has been against re-opening the trail.
The Kaneohe Neighborhood Board will discuss the issue at the Benjamin Parker Elementary School cafeteria at 7 p.m.
