No tsunami after 7.0 quake near Mariana Islands

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A magnitude 7.0 earthquake has occurred near Pagan, Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake was at a depth of 351 miles.
Magnitude 7.0 quakes or greater are capable of causing widespread and heavy damage.
The earthquake was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
