More food distribution events organized for Kauai residents impacted by Lowell
LIHUE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai County worked with the Hawaii Foodbank to organize two emergency food distribution events for residents affected by Hurricane Lowell.
The first food distribution will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Anahola Clubhouse, located at 3900 Kawelo St., from 4 to 6 p.m.
The other Hawaii Foodbank event will take place Friday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 5 p.m., at Hale Lihue, located at 4286 Rice St.
Organizers say the public should enter from the conventional hall, then exit onto Rice Street via right turn only.
To respect local traffic, attendees are asked not to line up any earlier than 3:45 p.m., and bring reusable bags.
This will be a mobile pantry distribution event.
The County is also reminding residents that this is last week of operations for Kauai’s hurricane resource centers. The centers will close after Oct. 22.
Hurricane resource centers will be available, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the following locations.
- Monday, Oct. 19: Kōloa Neighborhood Center, 3461B Weliweli Road
- Tuesday, Oct. 20: Hanalei Neighborhood Center, 5-5358 Kūhiō Highway
- Wednesday, Oct. 21: Kōloa Neighborhood Center, 3461B Weliweli Road
- Thursday, Oct. 22: Hanalei Neighborhood Center, 5-5358 Kūhiō Highway
