HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Bikers and drivers performing dangerous stunts late at night in Makiki have left neighbors fuming.

“They’ll go on King Street and they’ll go the wrong way on King Street, do tricks, come back, do more tricks, and just come back and forth,” the resident said, adding she did not want to be identified because when she pleaded for crowds to quiet down, they retaliated.

An anonymous resident recalled revelers and bikers, “Taunting me in front of my house, burning out in front of my house, which was completely unnecessary. Getting people to come over here, like literally coming on to my property and harassing me.”

The woman said motorcyclists have burned rubber feet away from her home at 2 a.m., and spectators have gotten rowdy as they drink alcohol and smoke marijuana.

“It’s been just an ongoing issue. I can’t sleep. my sleep is disturbed constantly. I have trouble breathing when the smoke comes in the house. It’s rough,” the woman shared.

Chuck Lee, a member of the area’s neighborhood board, added, “We have enough trouble in our neighborhood, whether it be crime, drugs, whatever. We were very concerned about this one because it was a very persistent problem.”

The board has notified police and more officers have been on patrol for the past week and half.

“Their overall presence did certainly stop them from being mischievous,” board chair Nathaniel Char added.

The unidentified neighbor has also been working with the board to stop the unruly behavior.

“We don’t mind if they want to have their bar and do their business inside their bar. But when it comes outside and they’re risking other people’s safety and well-being, that’s not okay,” the woman said.
