HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A bridge project will close highway lanes in West Oahu for nine months.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation is beginning a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week lane closure on the eastbound lanes of Farrington Highway between Old Fort Weaver Road and the Fort Weaver Road onramp.

The 24/7 road closure begins on Monday, July 7, near West Loch Estates in Ewa.

Drivers will be detoured to Old Fort Weaver Road, where they can continue east to reenter Farrington Highway at the opposite end of Old Fort Weaver Road.

HDOT said the work is part of the Farrington Highway Widening project, and crews will be building a new bridge that adds an extra lane.
