Father and 3-year-old girl among injured hikers rescued on Oahu

Honolulu Fire Department officials and Air1 rescue operators were busy this MLK holiday rescuing injured hikers across Oahu trails.

Five hikers total were rescued on four different trails — the youngest being a three-year-old girl. 

The toddler was being carried by her father, a man in his 30s, on the Lulumahu Falls trail just before 2 p.m. Officials said the father-daughter pair fell about 15 feet. Both suffered head injuries. 

They were airlifted out of the trail and transported into EMS care. Both were taken to a hospital and listed in serious condition. 

Other rescues took place between noon and 2 p.m. in Manoa, Palolo and Nuuanu.

One hiker was was on the Pali Notches trail when he fell 20 feet after a rope he was using to climb gave way. He suffered an ankle injury.
