The state has temporarily closed Judd Trail in Nuuanu after a banyan tree fell on a hiker.

A 43-year-old hiker was seriously injured Monday when a tree fell on her.

The woman was hiking Judd Trail in Nuuanu about 11:20 a.m. when the incident happened, first responders said.

She was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries.

The state said an arborist will be brought in to determine why the tree fell, and whether it's safe to remove it.
