HANALEI, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Rough surf created dramatic scenes in Kauai’s Hanalei Bay this week.

On Monday night, a sailboat ran aground near the Waikoko surf break.

Rescuers found the boat's owner inside the vessel with minor injuries. He was treated at Wilcox Hospital.

The following day, with the boat still lodged in about four feet of water and a High Surf Warning in effect, witnesses said beachgoers wading in the area were repeatedly swept into the waves.

No serious injuries were reported.

Lifeguards urged beachgoers to use caution in the water, especially during a dangerous swell.

There's no word on when the sailboat will be removed. The Coast Guard has been notified.
