Coast Guard, Fire Department search for possible missing diver off Maui

MAKENA, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Coast Guard is seeking the public's help in identifying the owner of an adrift dive float located approximately 50 yards offshore of Makena Landing Park, Maui, on Wednesday.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center received a radio call at 12 p.m. from a mariner who recovered the float.

A 45-foot Response Boat from Maui is conducting a search of the area and a Maui Fire Department crew searched the parking lot. There are no missing persons or distress reports in the area.

Anyone with information that may help identify the owner of the dive float is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at (808) 842-2600.
