Authorities are investigating an overnight car fire that spread to a Puunui Community Park building.
Honolulu firefighters arrived on scene at about 1:45 a.m. Monday where a parked Ford Focus was fully engulfed, while the structure next to it was in partial flames. It appeared that the flames and heat from the car radiated through the structure's windows and ignited some boxes and material inside, including books and manuals.
Firefighters had to make a forced entry into the building and managed to get the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. The car -- which was not reported stolen -- was totaled.
No injuries were reported.
The official cause of the fire is unknown, but firefighters speculate the car may have had electrical issues.
