Early voting begins with little trouble

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Early voting for the primary elections began Monday at Honolulu Hale and Kapolei Hale. The vast majority of voters we spoke to at Honolulu Hale said the overall experience was easy, and that there was plenty of help to be had if needed.

“It went very smoothly. I was very impressed at the help from the staff and also that it was very easy I expected a big crowd today" said Bart Dame. He voted via paper ballot, and did express one concern.

"The formatting of the ballot threw me off a little bit because I was voting in the Democratic primary and that was not on the front of the ballot, it was on the backside" he said. However, once he flipped the ballot over, his problems were solved.

Al Mishima voted electronically. "It was easy, fast and efficient. Yeah, I liked it better than the manual type ballots" he said. He too had a critique. He acknowledged that he wasn’t familiar with OHA candidates, and was hesitant when he was forced to vote for someone.

"I wish there was a way I could bypass that so I don't cast a vote for someone who maybe shouldn't be there".

Otherwise, he gave the experience a “thumbs up."
