Video shows bystanders rushing to help 70-year-old during attempted robbery at fast-food restaurant
TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) — A shocking assault at a fast-food restaurant in Arizona was caught on camera.
The Tucson Police Department said a 70-year-old man was assaulted during a robbery attempt at a Carl’s Jr. on July 9.
The 34-year-old suspect, who has not been named, followed the 70-year-old man into the restaurant and tried to steal a backpack from his walker.
The victim was knocked to the ground during the incident and suffered an injury to his arm.
Three bystanders stepped in and stopped the suspect before he could get away with the backpack, police said.
Witnesses provided officers with a description of the suspect and which way he went.
Within minutes, officers located the suspect and took him into custody. He was booked into jail on an attempted robbery charge.
