Water main break causes large sink hole in Maunawili

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A water main break caused a large sink hole in Maunawili late Monday morning.

It was reported shortly before noon, prompted a closure on Maunawili Road from Aloha Oe Drive to Maunawili Circle.

Board of Water Supply crews are on the scene to assess the situation and work to reopen the road.

The Honolulu Police Department is helping with traffic management, but drivers are asked to avoid the area until crews can get the road reopened.

Meanwhile an 8-inch water main break on nearby Kika Street is impacting 23 customers.
