Snorkeler dies after being found unresponsive off Mokulua Islands
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police said the snorkeler who was found unresponsive off the Mokulua Islands on Saturday has died.
Honolulu Ocean Safety said the 35-year old man was found just after 12 p.m.
Officials said good samaritans brought the man onto the island and began CPR.
Lifeguards brought the man to shore via jet ski and transferred care over to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services who provided advanced life support.
The man was then transported to a nearby emergency room in critical condition.
The Honolulu Fire Department also assisted with patient care.
Officials said the man was said to be visiting and was part of a kayaking tour.
Lifeguards described the conditions as choppy and the surf as 3 to 4 feet.
