Now twenty something years later, Gracie and Joe have three nearly adult children, and an actress who will play Gracie in a movie visits their family to prepare for the role. Julianne Moore plays Gracie, now almost 60 years old. Natalie Portman is Elizabeth, the actress who will play the young Gracie in a movie about the beginning of her scandalous relationship with Joe, who’s now in his mid thirties. The sly Elizabeth hopes to find out why Gracie would have an affair with a seventh grader and why Joe is still with her. Writer-director Emerald Fennell won the best screenplay Oscar for her first feature film, PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, three years ago. Her second feature, SALTBURN, is in theaters now. SALTBURN begins as a comedy-drama that pokes fun at ultra rich people, but halfway through, the movie turns into a wicked and disturbing psychological thriller that revels in its own depravity. The acting is great and the cinematography and production design are top notch. But I found myself cringing at several of the most provocative scenes. The film’s trailer calls SALTBURN “a gothic thriller dusted with poisonous candy-pop glitter.” Expect something outrageous. (With Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, Richard E.
