John Cruz – Acoustic Soul 25th Anniversary Special

Twenty-five years ago, John Cruz released ‘Acoustic Soul,’ one of the most celebrated and best selling Hawaii albums of all time, launching multiple new anthems into the Hawaii pantheon and earning Cruz two Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards in 1997. The program features Cruz anecdotes, an interview by 40-year Maui music journalist Jon Woodhouse, performances of select songs from ‘Acoustic Soul’ by Cruz, commentary by Hawaii celebrities and nostalgic photos & videos.
Roy and Kathy Sakuma, Founders of Ukulele Festival of Hawaii, inspire us with their mission of teaching ukulele and their humanitarian work. The Sakuma’s have shared their love of Ukulele with Hawaii for over 50 years. Roy and Kathy recount memories of spreading joy and music over the past decades.
Father-Daughter Duo, Jonathan and Kaiya Mack, inspire us by overcoming a serious medical condition with Kaiya and being resilient by sharing joy with their love of Reggae music and entertainment. Lori Kwee, 2021 Hawaii State Teacher of the Year, teaches her students about the importance of “Project-Based Learning” and empowers them to do their best.
