If you’re a fan of musical comedy, chances are you’ll really enjoy THE PROM. It’s an exciting, creative, very funny musical about four egotistical Broadway personalities who invade a small town in Indiana where the local PTA has cancelled the high school prom to prevent a lesbian from bringing her girlfriend to the big event. The singing and dancing actors are exuberant (especially Meryl Streep as a flamboyant diva). The songs are catchy. And the cinematography is often dazzling. Overall, THE PROM is joyful escapism with a positive message about tolerance.
