“One Puka Puka” premiered on June 24, 1992 on KGMB. Produced, written and narrated by Bob Jones, the two-hour documentary tells the story about the 100th Infantry Battalion, formed during World War II, initially made up largely by Nisei (second-generation) Japanese Americans from Hawaii. Hawaii News Now proudly presents the 30th Anniversary Encore Presentation of “One Puka Puka,” in honor of the bravery, loyalty and courage of the men of the 100th Battalion.

With primary elections on the horizon, Hawaii students host a candidate forum involving Democratic Party candidates for Governor: Former First Lady Vicky Cayetano, Lt. Governor Josh Green, and U.S. Congressman Kai Kahele. The forum was organized by HawaiiKidsCAN, a local nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused on building an equitable education system for all keiki, while empowering students to speak up and get involved.
