Terry Hunter reviews GET ON UP starring Chadwick Boseman

When Chadwick Boseman, the star of the BLACK PANTHER movie, passed away last week, Hollywood lost one of its most talented African American actors. BLACK PANTHER made Boseman a movie star, but he showed his acting chops several years earlier when he played the parts of three African-American icons: Jackie Robinson who broke the color line in baseball (“42”), Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court judge (MARSHALL), and James Brown, the singer-songwriter who was known as “the Godfather of Soul.” In GET ON UP Boseman gives an energetic, unforgettable performance as that troubled superstar. The music of GET ON UP is electric and the movie is good, but the acting of Chadwick Boseman in the film smacks of greatness. ($3.99 on Amazon, YouTube, Vudu)
