Terry Hunter reviews SAINT FRANCES

Hollywood’s biggest movies of the summer, MULAN and TENET have been postponed at least until the middle of August when theaters might be open again. In the meantime, online you can see new, very good independent films that probably wouldn’t get much exposure if theaters were open. My find this week is SAINT FRANCES, a fresh, satisfying comedy-drama, the first feature film written by actress Kelly O’Sullivan who also plays the lead character. SAINT FRANCES tells the sweet, realistic story of one summer in the life of a 34 year old woman who still doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life and takes a job as nanny for a six year old. Since the central character is a woman in her thirties, it may seem odd to call SAINT FRANCES a coming of age movie, but that’s what it is. The film deals with real people and real human problems in a refreshingly honest way. ($4.99 on Amazon Prime, YouTube, Vudu) terryhunter70@hotmail.com
