The Korean language film, PARASITE, made history last week when it became the first foreign film ever to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. The film is a wickedly entertaining, dark, satirical comedy about the huge divide between extremely poor people and the ultra rich. I was surprised it won Best Picture because most Americans generally avoid any film with subtitles. But in theaters here and on the mainland, this bold, brilliant fantasy has been showing continuously since the beginning of November.
