Rear Admiral Bob Girrier (U.S. Navy, Ret.) discusses upcoming elections in Taiwan

In our Pacific Rim segment, Rear Admiral, United States Navy (ret.) Bob Girrier joins us from the Honolulu-based Pacific Forum to talk about voting and Taiwan, a place that doesn’t allow absentee voting, so thousands fly home to do it. That is Taiwan. But before that, Howard Dicus asked about the situation in Iran and if missiles can reach us here in Hawaii? Girrier: That's something that we're always looking at and watching. If you swing arcs from that country into the pacific area, you can find that there can be threats for sure. Taiwan: With Taiwan's Presidential election coming up this Saturday, 1/11/2020 and a great opportunity for her campaign. They're very much pro-independence, pro-democracy. There is also what is happening in Hong Kong and China and how it's being watched very closely. Watch the interview as they also talk about the this and other aspects of the Pacific.
