Terry Hunter reviews A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

In A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, Tom Hanks plays Fred Rogers, the beloved children’s TV host, who wrote and starred in nearly a thousand episodes of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” between 1968 and 2000. Rogers was a kind, compassionate man whose goal was to make every child feel important and to make every adult remember what it felt like to be a child. The film is not so much about the TV show as it is inspired by how deeply Rogers affected the life of a cynical magazine writer who reluctantly accepted an assignment to write a story about him.
