Two movies in Hawaii: One doing Casting calls, Another Filming for Netflix

Casting call - The major feature film "Next Goal Wins" directed by Taika Waititi is looking for LOTS of background actors. It's based on a British Documentary of the same name, which is what you're seeing. It's coming up on October 5th at Wai'anae High School Gym. They're specifically searching for Polynesian & African American looking talent Ages 18 and over. Filming will take place on Oahu during November & December. The movie is about the Olympic soccer team from American Samoa. You may remember the Hawaii dancer was discovered on Ellen.. and competed with her crew on NBC's "World of Dance." The movie also includes Kelly Hu, Ryan Higa, Mapuana Makia and former UH football player Brad Kalilimoku - lots of Asian-Pacific Islander actors which is awesome. It's about two siblings who rediscover their Hawaiian heritage. It'll be directed by Jude Weng... known for the tv show, "Young Sheldon". Jonathan Ke Huy Quan is in this movie as well; and according to Christina is the original inspiration for "Finding Ohana". You might remember him as the young boy from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies.
