CAPERNAUM, A dramatic movie about street kids in Lebanon, is one of the nominees for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars, and it truly deserves the recognition. This unique feature film is about desperately poor, undocumented children who live most of their lives on the squalid streets of the slums in Beirut. The movie was cast with non actors whose lives are similar to the characters they play. There was a script, but much of dialogue was improvised and some of the footage captures whatever the people in the front of the cameras happened to say or do. The results of this unusual approach are powerful.
