Main parking lot at Kalama Park to close for improvements

WAILUKU, Maui (KHNL) -  There will be less parking at Kalama Park on Maui for the next several months.

The main parking lot will be closed starting Monday, September 15 through November 30 for improvements to the parking lot.

Improvements include replacing asphalt curbing, installing speed tables, constructing accessible walkways, striping parking stalls and accessible paths, replacing signs and installing five street lights.

"Due to safety issues and concerns over flooding expressed by members of the community, the resurfacing and lighting of the Kalama Park lot has been high on the priority list," said Deputy Parks Director Zachary Helm.

The total improvement will cost more than $370,000.
