WASHINGTON, D.C. (KHNL) - After recovering from surgery for a injured hip, and getting clearance to practice with his new team, former Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan is feeling like a kid in a candy store.
He's excited to get back on the field, and ready to prove that he belong.
Forget two-a-day practices at Redskin training camp, Colt Brennan wants more.
"All the work I can get the better, if we could have three a days I'd be excited, because the more and more I do, the better and better my hip feels, and the stronger and stronger my legs get, so everything's going good right now, I just gotta keep getting ready for this pre-season," said Brennan.
However, it's not the same role he's used to having. Here in Hawaii, Brennan was the man who could do no wrong. But in Washington, he's just another rookie looking to fit in. Something he's okay with.
"Because it is a new offense, Jason and Todd, they gotta get them ready because the season is coming around, so they gotta get them ready, so when I get my reps I gotta take full advantage of it," said Brennan.
His reps don't come as often as they used to, one reason why Brennan knows he needs to take full advantage of the ones he gets.
"That's just how it is and I'm just thankful to be here, and anytime I do get in, I just gotta make sure I do really well and show everybody that I'm doing everything right," said Brennan.
Doing it right also begins with his attitude. And it's nice to see Brennan hasn't changed since his days in the islands. He's still gung ho on life and football.
"For me it's just been exciting, for me with the draft process I've just had so much to prove, so for me just to get out here finally and be able to compete with everyone, I'm just loving it, this is the life for me," said Brennan.
The Skin's first pre-season game is on Sunday, August the 3rd against Indianapolis at 2:00 p.m.
