Seatbelts Save Two in Alewa Drive Crash

HONOLULU (KHNL) - A rash of deadly accidents on the roads this holiday weekend has one thing in common. Those killed were not wearing their seatbelts. But it was a different story for a crash Sunday morning. It looks like a terrible accident, a car upside down on an Alewa Heights road.

The driver took this sharp turn too wide and ran the car up a utility pole baseline, which caused it to roll onto its roof. But the driver and her young passenger did not get seriously hurt because they were both wearing their seatbelts.

But several accidents on Hawaii roadways over the holidays ended in death because individuals were not wearing their seatbelts. This deadly crash in Waianae is just one of four fatalities that happened over this past holiday.
