HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police say a woman was critically injured while crossing the street near Ala Moana late Monday night.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Kaheka and Kanunu Streets shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Police said the woman was in a marked crosswalk when the accident occurred, but was crossing as the red hand began to flash.
The vehicle that hit her was driven by a 29-year-old Honolulu man who was turning onto Kanunu Street.
EMS officials responded and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital with critical head injuries.
At the time, police said the roads were wet as it had been intermittently raining. They do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
