Man in critical condition after apparent stabbing at Oahu YMCA

NUUANU PALI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police are investigating an apparent stabbing that took place at the YMCA along the Pali Highway early Saturday.

Emergency Medical Services staff said the apparent stabbing left a 35-year-old male in critical condition. Stab wounds were found on the man's head and neck area, EMS said.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. Honolulu police confirm that one person was arrested in connection to the incident.

That person is facing potential attempted murder charges. Saturday morning, police continued their investigation at the scene.

Police said both the victim and the suspect were adult men staying at the facility.

"We are continuing to fully assist the Honolulu Police Department on this matter. Since it is an ongoing investigation, we have been asked by the Honolulu Police Department not to release any information on this incident so as not to impede the investigation. But what we can say is that the health and safety of those we serve is a priority and we have policies and procedures in place to ensure that to the fullest extent possible," Michael Broderick, President and CEO, YMCA of Honolulu said in a statement.
