HALEIWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Crews completed repairs Friday to a 16-inch water main break that shut down a major thoroughfare in Haleiwa and resulted in a school closure.

All repairs were made by 1:15 a.m., according to the Board of Water Supply.

The break, which was first reported at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, initially shut down both directions of Kamehameha Highway near Haleiwa Beach Park, BWS.

Lanes have since been reopened.

Sunset Beach Elementary School was also closed as a result of the break, but all classes will resume on Friday, the state Department of Education said.

City bus routes were also affected.

It's not clear how many customers were impacted, but multiple residents reported a widespread outage.

This story will be updated.
