A popular Oahu hiking trail is getting a makeover

MAKAPUU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A popular Oahu hiking trail is getting a makeover.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said crews will be working on the Makapuu lighthouse trail over the next two weeks starting Monday, Aug. 6.
Work will take place on weekdays and is expected to end on Thursday, Aug. 16.
The DLNR said crews need to repave the roads and improve the drainage system after recent episodes of heavy rain washed onto the roadway.
The trail will remain open, but hikers should expect trucks and equipment between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The project price tag will be just under $15,000.
