WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A well-worn Waikiki sidewalk is getting a major facelift.
Starting on Monday, contractors will begin pouring concrete near the Outrigger Beach Resort on Kalakaua Avenue, as part of the second phase in the city's sidewalk improvement project.
Crews will be working on the sidewalk from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, Monday through Friday.
The project will include the modification and addition of landscape strips, as well as several drainage and electrical improvements.
Drivers should anticipate delays due to detours, lane and road closures, and are advised to allow extra travel time while driving through the work areas.
No-parking signs have been posted prior to construction beginning in the work area, and illegally parked vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense.
Those looking for more information can contact the project construction manager, RM Towill at 808-221-3390, or Haron Construction at 808-456-2069.
