HAIKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui police are continuing to investigate an apparent armed robbery at a Haiku home.

According to police, it happened just after 10:30 p.m. on July 19.

MPD received a call about shots fired at the home. Police say three people were in the home when three male suspects stormed into the house.

One of them reportedly brandished a shiny handgun.

One of the victims was forced into a hallway bathroom while the suspects combed through the house. That's when police said the second victim armed himself with an AR-15 rifle and fire one round at the suspect, nearly striking one of the men.

The three men then fled the house, firing four gunshots as they exited. None of the bullets wounded anyone inside the home, police said.

The victims said the suspects were able to make off with $3,000 before fleeing towards Hana in a black vehicle.

Police described one of the suspects as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds. The second suspect is described as being about 5 feet 11 inches tall weighing about 180 pounds. Both suspects were described as having short black hair and between 20-30 years old, according to police.

Investigators did recover a firearm at the scene.

There have been no leads on suspects so far, but the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with tips should call Maui Police.
