HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii's last hope in the Tennis Championships of Honolulu is out of the competition after Alyssa Tobita and her Australian doubles partner Tallulah Farrow lost in straight-sets (6-1, 6-0) to Japan's Misaki Doi and American's Jessica Pegula.
Tobita, a Mililani High School graduate, lost in singles earlier this week but looked sharp during doubles play until Thursday afternoon.
Despite the loss, Tobita will exit the tournament with her head held high.
"I had a fun time. It was good to play my first professional tournament, and to have friends and family here to support me through it," Tobita said in a statement.
Tobita will now travel to Washington for two other tournaments before returning to the University of Oregon to complete her collegiate studies.
Five Americans are left in the singles draw with the semifinals and finals of the tournament taking place this Saturday and Sunday.
