HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Authorities on Thursday morning arrested a man who was in a restricted area at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

The state Department of Transportation said the suspect, 50-year-old Dell Kenela, entered the restricted area at the former commuter terminal, which is being demolished.

Airport workers spotted him around 4 a.m. and notified authorities, who then took him into custody.

Sources say it appears the man jumped over a fence and was under the influence of an intoxicant.

The man did not make it to the runway, and no flights were disrupted, officials said.

There were no injuries reported, either.

State sheriffs arrested Kenela for criminal trespass and promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree.

He is currently being held in a cell at the airport.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
